Vegan Recipe Scaler
Cooking for four when the recipe serves six, or the other way round. Paste the ingredient list, set both serving counts, and every quantity is rescaled and rounded to something you can actually measure. Fractions, mixed numbers, and metric units are all handled, and you can switch the whole list between cups and grams.

What scales and what does not
- Scales linearly: flour, sugar, liquid, fat, beans, vegetables, spices in moderate amounts.
- Scale with care: salt, chilli, and strong spices. Doubling a recipe rarely needs double the cayenne. Start at about three quarters of the scaled amount and adjust at the end.
- Does not scale: pan size, cooking time, and temperature. A doubled cake batter in the same tin bakes into a raw middle. Use two tins, or a larger one, and start checking at the original time.
- Leavening is not quite linear: baking soda and powder scale reasonably up to about double, then start to taste metallic. For larger batches, bake in two goes.
- Aquafaba and flax eggs: scale normally, but whip aquafaba in batches. A tripled quantity in a small bowl will not aerate.
